Senate Banking Committee member buys largest US mortgage originator ahead of Q1 earnings May 7 — committee jurisdiction directly aligned with company sector.
CONGRESSIONALSenator Mark Warner (Senate Banking Committee, VA) disclosed purchase Apr 13 · Filed May 1 · Banking Committee has direct oversight of mortgage markets and housing finance policy
EARNINGS CATALYSTQ1 2026 earnings report May 7 · Analysts generally see upside · Recent Overweight initiations from Stephens · Consensus targets in high-teens to low-twenties
SECTOR CONTEXTMortgage market growth forecasted up to 25% through 2026 · CEO cited surging loan volume in Feb 2026 · Mortgage rates stabilizing supports origination recovery
SOURCEConfirmed via Capitol Trades public STOCK Act disclosure data · Reddit r/insiderData also flagged Warner cluster buy May 1 · All data publicly available
KEY RISK
Earnings miss on May 7 could reverse any momentum. Single congressional signal without options flow confirmation. Mortgage volumes remain sensitive to rate movements. $1K-$15K disclosure band — modest position size for the senator.
🔍 RESEARCH CONTEXT
Q1 2026 earnings May 7. Rocket Companies is one of the largest US mortgage originators. Industry forecasts point to mortgage market growth up to 25% through 2026. Company CEO cited surging loan volume in Feb 2026. Multiple analysts maintain Buy/Overweight ratings. Barclays forecasts better mortgage origination market in 2026. Warner sits on Senate Banking Committee — direct oversight of housing finance.

🤖 AI-ASSISTED RESEARCH NOTE (Human reviewed)
"Based on publicly available data, a Senate Banking Committee member purchasing the dominant US mortgage originator — within the senator's direct committee jurisdiction — represents one of the more textbook congressional signal setups we can identify. Combined with an upcoming earnings catalyst on May 7 and analyst consensus pointing toward upside, this setup meets our threshold for this week's free research idea. Educational research only — not investment advice."
⭐ PRO: SIGNAL INTERPRETATION — WHAT THE DATA SUGGESTS
"The institutional thesis appears to be a classic mean-reversion-into-catalyst play. When a company with Azure's structural growth trajectory trades 22% below its 52-week high despite zero Sell ratings and $655 analyst targets, the asymmetry becomes compelling for large allocators who can hold through earnings volatility. The dark pool accumulation in the $415-420 range suggests funds treated the recent drawdown as an entry point rather than a warning signal..."

ABOUT WHALEQUORUM
Independent financial research newsletter
WhaleQuorum is an independent research newsletter that aggregates publicly available institutional market data and interprets it using AI-assisted analysis with mandatory human editorial review. We launched publishing in May 2026. Every report is written by AI and reviewed by a human editor before it reaches subscribers.
SEC STOCK Act disclosures weighted by committee relevance to the purchased sector
OPTIONS
Call sweeps bought on the ask above $500K premium indicate directional institutional positioning
13F
New positions and significant increases from top quantitative funds tracked quarterly
ABOUT WHALEQUORUM
WhaleQuorum is an independent weekly research newsletter built around one idea: institutional money leaves footprints in public data before it shows up in headlines.
Every week we scan four public data sources — FINRA ATS off-exchange volume, SEC STOCK Act congressional disclosures, unusual options flow, and institutional 13F filings — and publish three research ideas based on where those signals converge.
We are not a trading service. We do not manage money. We do not guarantee results. We scan data most retail traders either do not know exists or do not have time to process, and turn it into a clear weekly research briefing.
WHAT WE COMMIT TO
— Every pick includes the price at time of publication — no retroactive adjustments
— Every signal is sourced from public data anyone can verify
— Every report is reviewed by a human before it reaches subscribers
— When a setup does not work out we document it honestly in our published archive
— We launched in May 2026 — our track record starts from day one; nothing hidden, nothing simulated presented as real
WHAT THIS IS NOT
— Not personalized investment advice
— Not a guarantee of returns
— Not a managed account or trading service
— Not a prediction engine — signals inform research, not certainty
— Not a substitute for professional financial advice
WHO RUNS THIS
WhaleQuorum is operated by an independent researcher based in Los Angeles who has spent years learning to read the same publicly available data institutions generate — and built a system to surface the most interesting weekly setups from it. Not a registered investment adviser. Not a hedge fund. Questions or feedback: support@whalequorum.com

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Everything you want to know.
What exactly is WhaleQuorum?+
WhaleQuorum is a weekly research newsletter that aggregates and interprets publicly available institutional market data — off-exchange dark pool prints, congressional STOCK Act disclosures, unusual options activity, and institutional 13F filings — using AI-assisted analysis with mandatory human review. Every Sunday at 6PM ET we publish our top 3 research ideas. This is educational research, not investment advice.
Is this investment advice? Are you a registered financial adviser?+
No and no. WhaleQuorum is not a registered investment adviser and does not provide personalized investment advice. We are a financial research newsletter operating under the publisher exemption of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. Everything we publish is for informational and educational purposes only. You are solely responsible for your own investment decisions. Always consult a licensed financial professional.
Where does the data come from?+
We aggregate four independent publicly available data sources: (1) FINRA Alternative Trading System (ATS) data for off-exchange dark pool activity, (2) STOCK Act congressional trade disclosures from the SEC, (3) options market flow data tracking unusual premium activity, and (4) SEC 13F quarterly institutional position filings. All of these are public records. We interpret and score them — we do not create or manufacture any data. Perplexity Sonar provides live web research context per idea.
How does AI work in the process? Does AI make the picks?+
No — AI never decides which stocks to include. The confidence score is computed by a deterministic algorithm with fixed rules — same data always produces the same score. AI is used two ways: Perplexity Sonar searches the live web for earnings context and analyst notes, and Claude writes the plain-English explanation. A human editor then reads every report before it publishes and can edit or reject any idea. The human is the editor, not the AI.
What do I get on Free vs Pro?+
Free subscribers receive the #1 ranked research idea every Sunday at 6PM ET — the complete report including signal breakdown, AI analysis, price target, and key risk. It is the full report, not a teaser. Pro subscribers ($49/month) receive all three research ideas with complete analysis, plus live alerts when significant dark pool prints, congressional disclosures, or options sweeps are detected. The full historical database is also accessible to Pro subscribers.
What does "price at time of report" mean?+
Every research idea shows the stock's price at the moment the report was published — Sunday at 6PM ET. This is important for transparency: it lets you see exactly what price the analysis was based on, track how the idea has performed since publication, and evaluate the accuracy of our price targets. We do not retroactively change entry prices. What you see is what was published.
What are dark pools and why do they matter?+
Dark pools are private trading venues where institutional investors execute large block trades away from public exchanges. According to FINRA data, approximately 40-45% of all US equity trading volume flows through dark pools. Institutions use them to avoid moving prices against themselves when building large positions. When we detect a $200M+ dark pool print in a single stock, it indicates a fund deliberately accumulating a position. This data is public (FINRA reports it) but requires sophisticated interpretation to use effectively.
Can I cancel? Is there a money-back guarantee?+
Yes and yes. You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time — no questions asked. We also offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on your first month. If you are not satisfied for any reason within 7 days of your first payment, email support@whalequorum.com and we will refund you in full. No proof required.
Next report publishes Sunday 6PM ET.
